Hearing protection
The new CE regulation have introduced a new Single Number Rating (SNR) to supplement the full attenuation tables. This number
offers a guide to the overall performance, but full attenuation date must be checked against specific noise frequency exposures, the
ensure adequate protection is provided.
EN352-1 Muffs and Headband
The section of the standard deals with head fasteners and establishes requirements in terms of manufacture, design and performance,
test methods, instructions relating to marking and information intended for users.
It stipulates putting at disposal the information relating to head fastener acoustic fading characteristic, measured in conformity with
EN24869-1 and therefore specify a minimal fading level necessary to establish their conformity with the present specification.
This section of the standard does not deal with head fasteners designed to be fixed on a helmet or to be a part of a helmet or with the
performance of electronic devices likely to be inserted in the head fasteners, or even with amplitude sensitive head fasteners. This
standard does not deal with ear protection performance as fas as impulse noise is concerned.
EN352-2 Plugs and Bands
This part of the standard also deals with individually moulded ear plugs and devices connected by band, although, it does not deal
with the performances of electronic devices likely to be inserted in the ear plugs or on the case of amplitude sensitive plugs.
EN352-3 Muffs and Helmet mounted
The present section of the standard stipulates requirements in terms of manufacture, design and performance, test methods,
instructions relating to head fastener marking and information intended for head fastener users, when the latter are fixed on protective
industrial helmets.
